Dr. Lee Day | Director, Danbury Whalers Medical Team
Lee Day is a graduate of Queens University and has a degree in Exercise Physiology. The subsequent decades of his professional career have seen him involved physical therapy, strength coaching, and athletic training. Lee has worked with high school, college, recreational, semi-professional, and professional sports teams, including the NFL’s New York Giants.
He is currently the owner of AON Physical Therapy & Wellness, with four offices located in Danbury, Ridgefield, Brewster, and White Plains, focusing on physical therapy and rehabilitation. Day is also the current manager of Agility Physical Therapy for Connecticut Family Orthopedics, a firm closely tied with the medical care of the Danbury Whalers. Lee will be coordinating all efforts of the Danbury Whalers Medical Team, including staff recruitment, care, and treatment.
Dr. Wendy Maki, MD, ABFM | Team Physician
After graduating from St. Olaf College in southeastern Minnesota, Dr. Maki gained her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. She continued with her residency at Montclair Hospital, dealing with family practice. She has since been Board certified in Family Practice.
Dr. Maki currently cares both for adults and children, with a specific interest in adolescent care, multiple births, young families, and the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Growing up in Minnesota built Dr. Maki a strong love for the sport of ice hockey, sparking her involvement with the Danbury Whalers.
Dr. David Pazer, MD, ABIM, ABP – Team Physician
Dr. Pazer earned scholarly degrees at both Swarthmore College and Downstate Medical Center. He then conducted his medical residency at Indiana University – Purdue University, in Indianapolis (IUPUI), concerning Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. His research has brought him to particular interest in Preventative Medicine, Lyme disease, ADD, educational issues, and multigenerational family care.
He joined Family Medical Associates in the early 1990s and has since earned Board certification in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Pazer is also the Medical Director of the Laurel Ridge Health Care facility, a member of the Danbury Hospital Community Physicians Advisory Board, and a member of the Physicians Choice IPA Board of Directors.
Dr. Scott Solomons, DDS - Team Dentist
Dr. Scott Solomons has practiced General Dentistry at Dental Associates since 1989. Dr. Solomons was educated at the State University of New York at Binghamton, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. He served his residency at Fairleigh Dickenson University Dental School, as a Fellow of Advanced General Dentistry.
Dr. Solomons is a member of the Connecticut State Dental Association, the Greater Danbury Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists
When he’s not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Solomons enjoys spending time with his wife, Donna, and their two children. He loves to read, and enjoys outdoor activities like jogging, hiking, fishing, canoeing, landscaping and gardening. Dr. Solomons plays in the adult hockey league, coaches Youth Hockey in Danbury, and has taught Religious Education at his church in Newtown. He also plays the bagpipes!
Dr. Ronald Manoni – Team Chiropractor
After graduating from St. John’s University, Dr. Manoni attended the New York Chiropractic College, where he eventually received his post-graduate Sports Injury Certification. He has further post-graduate training in orthopedics and managing neck and low back pain. He has practiced in Danbury since graduating, but maintains his license to practice in New York, Florida and Colorado, alongside Connecticut.
Dr. Manoni has been specially recognized by the Connecticut Chiropractor Association, including an award for Chiropractor of the Year in 1989. He is a member of many pertinent organizations, such as the College of Sports Medicine and the Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness American Chiropractic Association. Dr. Manoni has also been both the President and Chairman of the Board of the Connecticut Chiropractic Association, and he continues to lecture and educate at both Danbury High School and Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Jared DiLorenzo – Team Chiropractor
Dr. DiLorenzo is a graduate of Quinnipiac University, where he also played Division I soccer. Recently, he graduated from New York Chiropractic College, with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. In his postgraduate time, Dr. DiLorenzo has extensively studied means of reducing recovery time and enhancing athletic performance, including function soft tissue therapy and nutrition. He is certified to provide certain decompression and rehabilitative techniques that have often been used to provide professional, Olympic, and youth athletes with quick recoveries to training schedules when dealing with repetitive motion injuries.
Dr. Ronald J. Raymond, MD - Team Cardiologist
Dr. Ronald J. Raymond is a 1988 graduate of Amherst College and a 1992 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Raymond was a resident at the University of Connecticut 1995 and the Chief Medical Resident at the same hospital in 1996. He completed his fellowship in 1999 at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Raymond was board certified in internal medicine in 1996 and re-certified in 2006, along with being board re-certified in cardiovascular disease in 2009. Dr. Raymond won the Lange Award in Medicine in 1992 and is a Fellow at the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Christienne F. Coates, MD - Team Opthalmologist
Christienne F. Coates MD is a Princeton University graduate. She received her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at NYU / Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and her fellowship in Oculoplastics at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. She practiced with Greenwich Ophthalmology Associates for four years. Dr. Coates has four children in the Ridgefield schools. Her husband, Dr. Jack Hergenrother, is an executive in the Systems & Technology Group at IBM.
Bill Romaniello – Head Athletic Trainer
Bill Romaniello, a Connecticut native, graduated from the University of Connecticut and moved to Birmingham, Alabama to begin his work with various doctors and physical therapists. This brought him to the position of Head Athletic Trainer of two semi-professional hockey teams in the area. Romaniello has since returned to his home state and is employed as the athletic trainer of Bethel High School, where he assists athletes of all sports. He continues to find himself on both sides of medicinal education, dealing with injury prevention, sports medicine, rehabilitation, and emergency medicine.
Stephen Tullino - Massage Therapist
Corrective Sports massage has focused its practice into athletic massage. Sports massage helps give an athlete the competitive edge during strenuous activity. Most clients that utilize this type of therapy into their lives understand the benefits for endurance, rehabilitation and the restoration of maximum health. C.M.S. has massaged athletes at the Boston Marathon , Triathlon events, Golf Tournaments and alike. Ridley - Lowell Business & Technical Institute utilizes C.M.S. in it's instructional staff. Also, associated with Fernwood Massage, the Official Massage Therapists for the Danbury Plaza Hotel, that provides safe and professional services to it's guests and offers group packages, including chair or table massage for special events.
